I almost blew it.
No. Not true. I did blow it.
Somehow last week, in the middle of a fairly-busy schedule, I forgot to charge my ankle tether. Stupid, hunh? Can’t understand it myself because I really thought I had charged it.
Well, after spending a week in county jail and facing a felony for not charging a GPS tether, I got released with a very-strong warning. “It happens again and you’ll be back in prison doing 2 to 4 on a new felony bit.”
I‘m not afraid to admit, there was a lot of praying, a lot of soul searching, and a lot of sleeplessness. My dreams began to disappear—college degree, well paying job, new house—with every slam of a cell door. And then, as I was beginning to settle down and accept it, beginning to plan how I would make yet another comeback sometime in 2018-2020, the deputy told me to pack it up. My parole officer had come to let me out.
One thing I said I’d never do when I began to develop this site was to get preachy with you because we’re all in the same boat, all felons just trying to survive and better ourselves, but let me preach now! Let me beseech you. Whatever you think you’re getting away with, stop doing it! Whatever rule you’re breaking that you think is no big deal, stop breaking it!
Stay out here with me and let’s help each other turn our lives around, remake ourselves, change our destinies. And from one felon who barely stayed out, let me wish you the happiest and most prosperous life a person can have.
idk how to say this but u helped me i was charged as a s.o at 15 for a girl friend that was 13 and her parents found out i spent 3 1/2 years in the joint it was hard being labled a s.o cuz you had to fight for your life and it scared me when i was 15 i didnt go to youth prison i went to adult i had to grow up real fast or be eaten but having this charge has made my life really hard cant find a job cuz no one will hire me do you have any advise
Always keep in mind that you did your time. True, there are a few out there who will know you’re a sex offender, but the majority won’t. Though in your mind you will think everyone is judging you for your past, they aren’t. They are judging you on your day to day conduct.
Live your life as a free, law-abiding citizen and everyone will treat you as such.
As far as jobs go, feel free to look at the jobs posted on this site. Do you have a college degree? If not, let Uncle Sam help you with a Pell Grant and student loan. Get a two year degree and earn three times what you can earn without one. Go to your nearest city college and talk to a counselor about high-paying careers in the area you want to live in.
