Heading for the finish line – The Last 25 Days of Parole
Well, the end is in sight. Only 25 more days left on parole. It’s been a long hard ride, but I’m finally there.
In some ways it’s really hard to believe. I started out thinking parole would be a walk in the park, then I got kicked in the head a few times. Got to the point when I felt I would never be able to complete parole. They sure don’t make it easy, that’s for sure!
I graduate from college in April of 2017—about 8 months from now—and i can’t wait. Having the 2 things that tie me down behind me, I’ll be free to go anywhere I want and do anything I want (within reason). I even have a new girlfriend and she’s simply amazing. I guess I shouldn’t say she’s new. We saw each other a little bit before I went to prison but lost track of each other. Now we’re together and it’s as if we were never apart. Life is funny that way.
For those of you who have completed parole, congratulations. It’s a major accomplishment and not as easy as it seems. For those of you who are still on paper, keep your head up and do whatever is asked of you. I know it eats at your pride, having to answer to someone who has no clue what it’s like being back out on the streets after a long stretch, but you’ve just gotta suck it up and drive on to the finish line.
If I can make it, any of you can. The best of luck and my prayers are with you.
